Error Code 09 - SessionSettingsTimeout

Overview


Error Code 09 (SessionSettingsTimeout) indicates that the Softdrive server never received the session settings required to complete the connection.


This means the client was able to initiate a connection to the remote computer, but the session configuration negotiation did not complete successfully.


This error is commonly related to network quality or interruptions during session setup.


Common Causes

Error Code 09 (SessionSettingsTimeout) is usually triggered by one or more of the following:

  • Poor or unstable internet connection

  • Packet loss or high latency during session setup

  • Temporary network interruptions

  • Network congestion affecting real-time traffic

This issue is most often related to network reliability rather than client or server configuration.


Troubleshooting


Things to do when this happens:


  • Check your internet connection quality
    Ensure your connection is stable with minimal packet loss. If possible, use a wired connection.

  • Retry the connection
    Temporary network conditions may improve after a short wait.

  • Use the Troubleshoot option
    If this issue started suddenly on a network where Softdrive previously worked, use the Troubleshoot button available in the Softdrive dashboard.

  • Try a different network
    Connecting from another network (such as a mobile hotspot) can help confirm whether the issue is network-related.

  • Exact error code shown (Error Code 09 – SessionSettingsTimeout)
