Error Code 18 (Server is unreachable) indicates that the Softdrive client was unable to reach the remote server at the time of the connection attempt.
This means the server could not be contacted over the network, preventing the connection from being established.
In many cases, this condition is temporary and resolves once connectivity is restored.
Common Causes
Error Code 18 (Server is unreachable) is usually triggered by one or more of the following:
Temporary network outage or loss of internet connectivity
Remote server temporarily unavailable or restarting
Firewall, VPN, or network security rules blocking connectivity
DNS resolution issues
This issue may be related to network reachability or server availability.
Troubleshooting
Things to do when this happens:
Check your internet connection
Confirm that your device is connected to the internet and can access other websites.Retry after a few minutes
Temporary outages may resolve automatically.Disable VPNs or network filters for testing
VPNs or security tools may block access to the server.Use the Troubleshoot option
If this issue started suddenly on a network where Softdrive previously worked, use the Troubleshoot button available in the Softdrive dashboard.
If the issue persists after several minutes, please contact Softdrive Support.
When opening a support ticket, include as much detail as possible:
Exact error code shown (Error Code 18 – Server is unreachable)
Timestamp of when the error occurred
Network type (home, corporate, VPN)
