Released: May 2026
This release delivers targeted improvements to Softstream session stability, media device recovery, security, and user experience, along with Softnet updates that improve group management, provisioning workflows, and multi-organization access.
New Features
Softnet: SCIM-Synced User Groups
Softnet user groups now sync with SCIM, allowing administrators to manage group membership from their identity provider instead of maintaining groups separately in both SCIM and Softdrive. Groups can be associated with Computer Pools and Fleets, with RBAC enforcement applied at the group level. This reduces duplicate administration, improves consistency across identity and VDI access workflows, and makes group-based access management easier to maintain at scale.
Softnet: Table Filtering
Added configurable column filters to table views. This improves navigation and makes it easier for administrators to find relevant hosts, computers, templates, and other operational records in larger environments.
Softnet: E6 Shape Support
Added support for the E6 instance shape when provisioning hosts through Softnet. This expands provisioning options for environments that require newer compute shapes and supports broader infrastructure planning.
Enhancements
Softstream: Session Window Computer Identification
The session window title bar now displays the computer name, allowing users to identify which system is active in each window. This improves usability for users and administrators working across multiple concurrent Softstream sessions.
Softstream: Video Encoding and Codec Stability Improvements
Improved video encoding reliability for H.265 workloads on AMD systems. These changes improve session consistency for graphics-intensive workloads and reduce conditions that can cause visual instability or degraded responsiveness.
Softstream: Launcher Experience Improvements
Updated Launcher text and navigation references, including changing the Open Dashboard setting to Open Softnet. This improves terminology consistency and makes it clearer for users and administrators to access Softnet from the Launcher.
Softstream: Operating System Update Control
Added support to manage auto-updater behavior by operating system. This gives administrators more control over update behavior across supported endpoint environments.
Softnet: Cluster Visibility Improvements
Improved cluster synchronization to ensure clusters are discovered more reliably across customer environments. This reduces the risk of missing cluster records in Softnet and improves administrative visibility during provisioning and infrastructure review.
Softnet: Deprecated Template Visibility
Templates marked as deprecated are now hidden from the template list. This keeps provisioning workflows cleaner and reduces the chance of selecting outdated templates.
Softnet: Multi-Organization SSO and Onboarding Improvements
Improved login and invitation flows for users who belong to multiple organizations, including SSO and password setup scenarios. These changes reduce friction during onboarding and help users land in the correct organization after authentication.
Softnet: Sidebar Layout Improvements
Updated the Softnet sidebar to better support submenu layouts. This improves navigation consistency as additional administrative areas are added to the interface.
Bug Fixes
Softstream: Audio Popping During Sessions
Resolved an issue where audio could pop or crackle due to packet loss during a Softstream session. This improves audio quality and stability, particularly for users on Microsoft Teams and other real-time communication applications.
Softstream: Authentication Recovery Improvements
Users are now redirected to the login screen when an authentication session is no longer valid. This improves recovery from expired or unauthorized sessions and helps users return to their desktop workflow with less confusion.
Softstream: Webcam Recovery After Sleep and Reconnect
Resolved issues where webcam streams could fail to restart after a device reconnects or after the endpoint resumed from sleep. These fixes improve reliability for video conferencing applications and reduce the need to restart the session when camera devices are reattached or reinitialized.
Softstream: Initial Webcam Stream Startup Delay
Resolved an issue where the first webcam video stream during a server lifetime could take longer than expected to load. Webcam initialization is now more consistent, improving the user experience when joining meetings or launching camera-enabled applications.
Softstream: Screen Update Reliability
Resolved an issue affecting screen updates during Softstream sessions. This improves session responsiveness and reduces cases where the displayed desktop could stop reflecting the current remote state.
Softstream: Linux and IGEL Media Stability
Resolved Linux and IGEL client issues affecting hardware encoding and decoding across AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel systems. Additional fixes address webcam-related freezes in Microsoft Teams and freezes caused by unplugging audio devices, improving stability for thin-client and Linux endpoint users.
Softnet: Multi-Organization MFA Redirect
Resolved an issue where switching to an organization that requires MFA could lose the intended destination organization. The MFA enrollment flow now preserves the target organization so users are returned to the correct context after setup.
Softnet: Session Auto-Extension
Resolved a regression that caused user sessions to expire instead of renewing automatically. Sessions now extend as expected, reducing unnecessary sign-ins during active use.
Softnet: Host Action Configuration
Resolved an issue where in-flight action details could be missing when configuring actions during host creation. This improves clarity during provisioning and reduces ambiguity in host setup workflows.
Softnet: Organization Invitation Access
Resolved an issue where users in an invited state could see organization data before accepting their invitation. This improves access control consistency and ensures organization visibility aligns with invitation status.
Softnet: Selectable Computer Details
Resolved an issue where labels on the computer preview page, including public IP, local IP, and email, could not be selected or copied. Administrators can now copy these values more easily during troubleshooting and configuration work.
