Error Code 13 - ServerRestart

Overview


Error Code 13 (ServerRestart) indicates that the Softdrive server component running on the remote computer is currently restarting.


This occurs when SoftdriveServer.exe on the remote PC is restarting as part of normal operation, maintenance, or recovery.


While the server process is restarting, new connections cannot be accepted.


Common Causes

Error Code 13 (ServerRestart) is usually triggered by one or more of the following:

  • SoftdriveServer.exe restarting on the remote PC

  • Remote PC reboot or system update in progress

  • Automatic recovery or service restart

  • Administrative action on the remote PC

This behavior is expected during restarts and is not an error condition.


What to Do


Things to know when this message appears:


  • Wait a few minutes and try again
    Once the server process finishes restarting, the connection should succeed normally.

  • Avoid repeated rapid connection attempts
    Allow time for the restart to complete before retrying.

  • Exact error code shown (Error Code 13 – ServerRestart)

  • Timestamp of when the message appeared

  • Cloud PC name and organization

  • How long the message persisted before retrying
