Overview
This guide explains how to correctly adjust screen resolution when using a Softdrive virtual machine.
Softdrive automatically mirrors the native resolution of your local hardware. To change the resolution inside the VM, you must modify the display settings on your physical device.
Applies To
- Softdrive Virtual Machines
- Windows devices
- macOS devices
- Users adjusting display resolution
Prerequisites
- Active Softdrive session
- Access to local computer display settings
- Supported monitor or display hardware
How It Works
Softdrive is designed to automatically mirror the native resolution of your local computer or monitor.
This means that resolution changes must be performed on the physical device, not inside the virtual machine.
Procedure
| Platform | Instructions |

Important Note
Manually modifying display settings inside the Softdrive virtual machine is not supported.
The display settings shown inside the VM may not accurately represent the actual output resolution because Softdrive synchronizes display resolution directly from the local hardware.
Expected Result
The Softdrive virtual machine automatically updates to match the display resolution configured on the local computer.
Troubleshooting
- Disconnect and reconnect the Softdrive session after changing local resolution settings
- Verify the local monitor supports the selected resolution
- Check multi-monitor settings if resolutions appear incorrect
- Avoid changing resolution settings from inside the virtual machine
