Softdrive Abrupt Disconnect Error – Troubleshooting Guide

Overview

An "Abrupt Disconnect" error typically indicates a network-related issue affecting your connection to the Softdrive virtual machine.

These interruptions are usually caused by unstable internet connections, hardware issues, or network infrastructure problems.

Applies To

  • Softdrive Virtual Machines
  • Softstream Client
  • End Users experiencing connection drops

Prerequisites

  • Active Softdrive session
  • Access to your local network and device settings
  • Ability to run network tests

Procedure

  1.  Check Network Quality
    •  Run an online packet loss test
    •  If you are outside North America, use the "1080p game stream" preset
    •  Set the test duration as high as possible and select a server close to your region
  2.  Identify Your Work Environment
    • Determine whether you are working from home or from an office environment
    • If in an office, consider whether multiple users are sharing the same network
  3.  Check Connection Type
    •  Verify whether you are using WiFi or a wired connection
    • If using WiFi, switch to a wired Ethernet connection for better stability

Expected Result

Network stability improves and abrupt disconnections are reduced or eliminated.
