Overview
This article explains how to view and export the Softdrive installer digital certificate. The Softdrive installer is digitally signed by Softdrive Technologies Inc. to verify the authenticity and integrity of the application.
The exported certificate can be used by IT administrators and security teams for application validation, software allowlisting, and enterprise security configurations.

Prerequisites
- A copy of the Softdrive installer downloaded from an approved Softdrive source.
- A Windows computer with permission to view file properties.
- Administrator or security team access if the certificate will be imported into enterprise tools.
Procedure
1. Download the Softdrive Installer
Download the latest Softdrive installer provided by Softdrive.
2. Open Digital Signature Properties
- Right-click the Softdrive installer file.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Digital Signatures tab.
3. View the Softdrive Certificate
- Select the signature issued by:
Softdrive Technologies Inc. - Click Details.
- Click View Certificate.
4. Export the Certificate
- In the Certificate window, open the Details tab.
- Click Copy to File.
- Follow the Certificate Export Wizard.
- Select:
Base-64 encoded X.509 (.CER)
as the export format. - Choose a destination location and complete the export process.
Expected Results
A certificate file with a .CER extension will be created. This file contains the Softdrive Technologies Inc. signing certificate in Base-64 encoded X.509 format.
The certificate can now be provided to security teams or imported into enterprise security platforms that support certificate-based trust.
When Is This Required?
Exporting the Softdrive certificate is typically required in the following scenarios:
- EDR and Antivirus Allowlisting:
Organizations may prefer certificate-based allowlisting instead of allowing individual executable names. This allows security products to trust applications signed by Softdrive Technologies Inc. - Enterprise Software Deployment:
IT teams deploying Softdrive through tools such as Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM), or other endpoint management platforms may require certificate information for validation. - Security Compliance Reviews:
Security teams may request the certificate to confirm that software installed in the environment is authentic and has not been modified. - Application Control Policies:
Solutions such as Microsoft Defender Application Control, AppLocker, or other application trust systems may use publisher certificates to approve software execution.
Troubleshooting
The Digital Signatures tab is not available
If the Digital Signatures tab is missing, verify that the downloaded file is the official Softdrive installer and that the file has not been modified or extracted incorrectly.
The certificate does not show Softdrive Technologies Inc.
Confirm that the installer was downloaded from an approved Softdrive source. Do not install or whitelist installers that do not contain the expected Softdrive digital signature.
The certificate export option is unavailable
Verify that the certificate window was opened by selecting:
- Digital Signatures
- Details
- View Certificate
- Details
- Copy to File
