Overview
Error Code 08 (MonitorTopologyFail) indicates that the remote computer was unable to correctly mirror or configure its display layout to match the monitor topology of the client device.
This occurs when the remote PC encounters an issue while setting up or applying the monitor configuration during session initialization.
In most cases, monitor topology issues fail gracefully and do not surface as errors. When this error appears, further investigation is usually required.

Symptoms
- Connection fails when launching session
- Display does not initialize correctly
- Black screen or incorrect monitor layout
- Session fails when using multiple monitors
Possible Causes
- Unusual or unsupported monitor configurations
- Rapid changes in monitor layout during connection
- Display driver or graphics subsystem issues
- Mismatch between client and remote display capabilities
This issue is typically related to display configuration and graphics handling, not network or authentication.
Resolution
- Use a single monitor
- Disconnect extra monitors and try again
- This helps isolate topology issues
- Set Softdrive to "Show only Primary"
- Before connecting, configure display mode to use a single screen
- Avoid changing monitors during connection
- Do not plug/unplug monitors while connecting
- Restart the session
- Disconnect and reconnect to reset display negotiation
- Restart the remote computer
- If the issue persists, reboot the Cloud PC
Validation / Expected Result
- The session launches successfully
- Displays are configured correctly
- No monitor topology errors appear
