By default, the Settings button also called the Softdrive Overlay is located in the top left corner of the screen. You can drag it anywhere to reposition it.
Hiding and Showing the Settings Button
Press CTRL + ALT + . to hide or show the Settings button as needed.
Settings Menu
The Settings menu displays Softdrive machine settings in a dropdown format.
Window Mode
Switch between full-screen mode and windowed mode.
Quick Settings
Allows you to adjust picture quality based on your internet connection:
- Ultra Low & Low – Optimized for slow internet speeds, field users relying on mobile hotspots, or offices with limited bandwidth.
- Medium & High – Best for users with stable, high-speed internet.
- Custom & Shared - These are settings that you have customized or settings that have been customized and shared with you by your admin.
You can also set image priority based on Quality or Frame Rate.
Advanced Quality Settings
Customize video settings, including codec, encoder type, rate control, and other options. These settings can help resolve latency or delay issues.
Analytics
View key connection metrics:
- Bandwidth, Packet Loss, Ping, and Jitter
- Target vs. Actual Bitrate, Frames per Second, and Encode/Decode Speed
If you experience performance issues, check these metrics first, as network instability may be the cause.
Multi-Client Management
For users with multiple Softdrive machines, this option allows you to:
- Access multiple computers at once
- Seamlessly switch between machines
Multi-Monitor Support
This setting allows you to cast Softdrive across:
- A single monitor
- Multiple monitors
- Up to 8 screens simultaneously
The transition between monitors is seamless.
Video Conferencing
Softdrive supports Zoom, Teams, and other conferencing apps. This setting lets you select local resources such as:
- Speakers
- Microphones
- Webcams
File Transfers
Copy & Paste
You can copy and paste files between your local desktop and Softdrive.
Drag & Drop
Drag files into Softdrive, then select "Copy Here" or "Move Here" to transfer them.
Reporting Issues
You can report issues through multiple channels:
- Overlay – Click the Softdrive desktop icon, then select "Report Issue" to submit a ticket.
- Web – Submit a ticket at Softdrive Support.
- Email – Contact [email protected].
Additional Functions
Send CTRL + ALT + DELETE
Opens Windows settings directly.
Minimize Softstream
- Press CTRL + ALT + . to minimize the Softdrive icon.
- Alternatively, open the tray icons menu (bottom right of your screen), click the Softdrive icon, and select "Show Menu."
Exit Softsteam
Logs you out and closes the Softdrive session.
